Superintendent
A well-established construction organization is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations and oversee all trades on large-scale construction projects. The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing all field activities, including self-performing trades, subcontractors, and suppliers. Success in this role is measured by completing projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards, while maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
The Superintendent reports to the Field Operations Manager and supervises all trades on-site. This role requires a versatile, results-oriented individual who can motivate teams, communicate effectively at all levels, and maintain a standard of excellence throughout each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the company in all matters at the job site in conjunction with the Project Manager
- Provide leadership, guidance, and coordination for all tradesmen and subcontractors
- Oversee daily field operations to ensure all activities align with the project schedule
- Monitor and enforce all safety protocols per company policy
- Maintain a complete set of up-to-date project drawings and specifications, incorporating bulletins, RFIs, and ASIs into a master set
- Attend Owner, Architect, and Contractor project meetings
- Administer and document weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
- Interpret and understand contracts, subcontracts, scopes of work, drawings, and specifications
- Review constructability of project drawings and provide alternate details when applicable
- Develop and update detailed project schedules in collaboration with Project Manager, Scheduling Manager, and subcontractors
- Create and distribute three-week look-ahead schedules to all subcontractors at weekly meetings
- Manage and coordinate construction activities to maintain an efficient and organized work environment
- Coordinate delivery schedules for all major materials and equipment
- Administer, schedule, and document pre-installation meetings
- Establish and maintain construction sequencing and site logistics plans
- Report and document project status daily, including daily reports, progress photos, field issues, and incidents
- Coordinate and manage inspections required by regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and building departments
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds the owner’s quality expectations
- Manage punch lists and project closeout process for timely completion
- Assist with additional projects, duties, and tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree, relevant certification, or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 10 years of construction industry experience, including at least 5 years as a construction superintendent
- Proficient computer skills and understanding of the construction industry
- 30-Hour OSHA Training Certification and familiarity with construction/OSHA regulations
- Ability to interpret contracts, scopes of work, drawings, and specifications
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
