Assistant Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

A well-established construction organization specializing in industrial and heavy commercial projects is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support continued growth within its project management team. The Assistant Project Manager will support project scheduling, buyout, estimating, document control, and coordination of self-perform teams and subcontractors. This role may involve assisting on one large project or multiple small to mid-sized projects simultaneously, with delivery methods including Self-Perform, General Contracting, and Construction Management. Projects typically range from $500K to $15M in value. Travel may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the organization’s safety culture and comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with adherence to standard operating procedures for estimating, purchasing, and project control
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and design teams to support project success
  • Assist in managing project financials including cost tracking, forecasting, and change order documentation
  • Support document control processes including submittals, RFIs, change orders, punch lists, and closeout documentation
  • Assist with project buyout and coordination with estimating teams
  • Support estimating tasks including budgets, bulletins, and change request pricing
  • Coordinate subcontractor and self-perform scopes alongside field supervision
  • Maintain communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Assist in establishing construction budgets and project setup processes
  • Support planning, scheduling, and logistics coordination
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Support contract administration including letters of intent, purchase orders, and sub-agreements
  • Assist with submittal tracking and coordination with project engineers
  • Support distribution of drawings and specifications for field execution
  • Monitor construction progress including tracking labor, materials, and schedule updates
  • Assist with project closeout including documentation, compliance, and punch list management
  • Travel may be required


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience or relevant internships within a General Contracting or Construction Management environment
  • Direct experience with water/wastewater treatment plant projects required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, document control systems, and FTP platforms
  • Experience with Sage 300, ProCore, Prolog, or similar construction software preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support multiple projects simultaneously
