Title: Tax Accounting Manager

Location: Austin, TX (Full-Time, On-Site)


A well-established, full-service advisory firm in Austin is seeking a Tax Accounting Manager to serve as a key technical resource for a growing book of clients. With a team-oriented culture and forward-thinking leadership, this firm is actively expanding its advisory practice and investing in technology-driven solutions to improve efficiency and client value. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong tax technician who is comfortable owning both the technical tax work and the accounting responsibilities that come with it, while also stepping into meaningful client advisory conversations.


Key Responsibilities


• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1120, 1041, and 990

• Serve as the primary technical tax resource during client advisory meetings, fielding complex tax questions alongside firm leadership

• Review accounting work completed by staff for accuracy, timeliness, and proper account coding

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Maintain financial records, general ledgers, and accounts including AP, AR, inventory, and amortization schedules

• Contribute to firm-wide initiatives around technology adoption and process improvement

• Mentor and support junior staff as needed


Required Qualifications


• Active CPA license required

• 8 to 15 or more years of public accounting experience with a strong tax focus

• Proficiency across a broad range of return types including individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and nonprofits

• Comfortable handling accounting responsibilities alongside tax work in a full-service firm environment

• Experience in or genuine interest in client advisory work beyond compliance

• Comfortable working in a tech-forward environment with openness to AI tools and workflow automation

• Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset

• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting platforms preferred
