A growing factoring company is seeking to expand its presence in the Houston market. The firm provides flexible working capital solutions to small and mid-sized businesses across industries such as transportation, staffing, oil & gas services, and manufacturing.


Position Overview

The company is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Officer to join its Houston-based team. This individual will operate as a generalist, responsible for sourcing, structuring, and closing factoring deals across multiple industries. The role requires a strong hunter mentality and the ability to manage the full sales lifecycle, from initial outreach through funding.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new client relationships in the Houston metro area and surrounding markets
  • Originate and structure factoring opportunities across a variety of industries (e.g., transportation, staffing, oilfield services, wholesale/distribution)
  • Build and maintain a robust referral network including brokers, bankers, CPAs, attorneys, and consultants
  • Assess prospective clients’ credit profiles, receivables, and overall funding needs
  • Partner with internal underwriting, credit, and operations teams to move transactions efficiently through the pipeline
  • Negotiate terms and successfully close new factoring agreements
  • Maintain a healthy and consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade associations, and networking functions
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in factoring, asset-based lending, or commercial finance
  • Demonstrated track record of originating and closing factoring deals
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, collateral evaluation, and risk assessment
  • Existing network within target industries (transportation, staffing, energy, etc.) is preferred
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a territory
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred
