Superintendent (General Contracting)

A well-established construction organization specializing in industrial and heavy commercial projects is seeking a Superintendent to support continued growth within its field leadership team. The company has built a reputation for delivering complex projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This opportunity offers the chance to lead project teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure high-quality construction execution across multiple projects and locations.


The Superintendent) will serve as the overall field leader for assigned construction projects, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. This role involves supervising on-site staff, coordinating with project management, and maintaining positive relationships with subcontractors, clients, and all project stakeholders. Travel may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and engage the on-site workforce and subcontractors to maintain positive project morale and ensure project success
  • Maintain full knowledge of the General Contract, subcontract agreements, drawings, specifications, and addenda; assist the Project Manager with on-site procedures
  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda for design deficiencies or code issues and communicate findings to the Project Manager
  • Support Project Manager and Scheduling Manager in developing and refining project schedules; ensure project milestones are met
  • Plan and review the Construction Program with the Project Manager, including quality control, safety practices, field office layout, temporary utilities, staging, equipment, and manpower
  • Verify subcontractor readiness, including Certificates of Insurance, executed subcontracts, Schedules of Values, and Safety Programs
  • Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained and posted appropriately on-site
  • Coordinate with inspection agencies and implement remedial actions as required
  • Chair weekly coordination and monthly safety meetings with subcontractors; issue meeting minutes to Project Manager
  • Review subcontractor daily reports, approve monthly payment requests, and maintain project documentation
  • Maintain strong communication and relationships with all project stakeholders, including the public
  • Enforce safety programs and protocols among subcontractors and field teams
  • Travel and overtime may be required
  • Perform additional duties as needed in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing large-scale general contracting industrial and heavy commercial projects
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • 30-hour OSHA training
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
