Construction Project Manager – Special Projects

Our client, a respected and growth-oriented commercial construction firm with a strong presence in its regional markets, is seeking a Project Manager to lead its Special Projects division. The organization is known for delivering high-quality commercial builds while maintaining strong client relationships and repeat business. This opportunity offers ownership of fast-paced, high-visibility projects, direct client engagement, and the ability to drive revenue within a nimble and performance-driven team.


The Project Manager – Special Projects will oversee smaller-scale, quick-turn commercial projects, renovations, and tenant improvements, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction from pre-construction through closeout.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage special projects from estimating and pre-construction through final delivery
  • Develop and control project budgets, schedules, and cost tracking
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal field teams
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee contract administration, change orders, and procurement processes
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks while maintaining strong profit margins
  • Collaborate with estimating and business development teams to support repeat work


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience with a Commercial General Contractor
  • Experience managing renovations, tenant improvements, or fast-track commercial projects
  • Background in one or more of the following markets: Education, Office, Historic Preservation, Adaptive Re-Use, Hospitality, or Municipal
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and cost control
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent client-facing communication and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and change order management
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
