Senior Vice President, Special Assets

Our client, a well-capitalized and strategically growing financial institution, is seeking a Senior Vice President of Special Assets to lead and manage its criticized and classified asset portfolio. The organization is recognized for its disciplined credit culture, strong executive leadership, and proactive risk management philosophy. This opportunity offers executive-level visibility, strategic influence, and the ability to directly impact asset quality and overall portfolio performance within a respected and stable banking platform.


The Senior Vice President will oversee the management, restructuring, and resolution of distressed commercial credits while collaborating closely with executive leadership, credit administration, and lending teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management and resolution of criticized, classified, and non-performing commercial assets
  • Develop and implement strategies for loan workouts, restructures, and recoveries
  • Negotiate forbearance agreements, restructures, and settlement terms with borrowers
  • Partner with legal counsel on foreclosure, bankruptcy, and liquidation matters
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and collateral evaluations
  • Present asset status updates and risk assessments to executive leadership and board-level committees
  • Work collaboratively with commercial lending teams to mitigate emerging credit risk
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure thorough documentation of workout strategies
  • Mentor and guide credit and special assets staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of commercial banking experience with significant exposure to credit risk or special assets
  • Strong background in commercial loan workouts, restructures, and distressed asset management
  • Deep understanding of commercial credit underwriting and risk mitigation strategies
  • Experience navigating bankruptcy proceedings and complex legal negotiations
  • Proven leadership experience within a banking or credit administration environment
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to classified assets
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
