Director of Accounting

Our client, a well-capitalized and growth-focused financial institution with a strong regional presence, is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions. The Director of Accounting will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls while serving as a key advisor to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Oversee preparation of financial statements and internal management reporting
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory reporting requirements
• Manage budgeting processes and support financial forecasting initiatives
• Oversee internal controls, audit coordination, and risk management processes
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while driving process improvements
• Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy and operational planning
• Coordinate external audits and regulatory examinations
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reporting

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of accounting experience, with leadership responsibility
• Strong preference for candidates seeking a long-term private industry accounting role
• Experience with GAAP reporting and financial statement preparation
• Prior experience within financial services or regulated environments preferred
• Demonstrated leadership managing accounting teams and workflows
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit processes
• CPA license preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
