Business Development Officer

Our client, a nationally active and growth-focused specialty finance company, is seeking a Business Development Officer to expand its commercial funding portfolio. The organization provides flexible working capital solutions—including factoring and asset-based lending—to small and middle-market businesses across diverse industries. The Business Development Officer will be responsible for sourcing new client relationships, building referral partnerships, and structuring customized financing solutions that address clients’ cash flow needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate new factoring and asset-based lending relationships
  • Develop and maintain referral networks with brokers, bankers, CPAs, and financial advisors
  • Identify and prospect middle-market businesses seeking working capital solutions
  • Structure and present customized financing proposals based on client financial profiles
  • Conduct preliminary financial analysis and collaborate with underwriting teams
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contractual agreements
  • Maintain an active pipeline and meet or exceed production goals
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking functions


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in factoring, asset-based lending, or alternative commercial finance
  • Proven track record of originating and closing new business
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable financing and working capital structures
  • Established referral relationships within commercial finance channels preferred
  • Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently in a production-focused environment
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach
