Superintendent – Commercial Interiors Construction


A well-established commercial construction firm specializing in interior build-outs and complex tenant improvement projects is seeking a Superintendent to support ongoing project execution. The Superintendent will serve as the primary field leader responsible for project planning, coordination, safety, quality, and execution. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage subcontractors, schedules, and jobsite operations effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage subcontractors and provide direct leadership for project planning, coordination, sequencing, and site utilization
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of interior commercial construction practices and construction documents
  • Execute layout, alignment, and installation coordination of all project elements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient jobsite
  • Oversee jobsite safety and enforce quality control standards
  • Actively participate onsite to support project execution based on scope requirements
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, architects, and clients to proactively solve problems
  • Ensure compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, inspections, and regulatory standards
  • Manage costs related to field execution within the approved project scope
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders
  • Provide consistent communication via email, phone, and in-person updates
  • Support project documentation efforts including RFIs, submittals, and coordination meetings
  • Communicate project issues, risks, and updates to clients and design teams


Superintendent Responsibilities:

  • Successfully lead and deliver projects up to and exceeding $25M in value
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with clients, building personnel, and design partners
  • Mentor and develop Project Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents through training and leadership
  • Provide consistent execution and oversight across multiple projects and teams


Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Superintendent within commercial construction, with interiors experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, schedules, and field operations effectively
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, methods, and materials (framing, windows, doors, millwork, finishes, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Knowledge of local building codes, inspections, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and mitigate issues proactively
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency with construction technology including Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and situations
  • Self-starter with strong leadership capabilities and sound judgment
  • Ability to manage professional relationships effectively and know when to escalate or seek support
