We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to join a growing MEP engineering team in the Greater Baltimore area. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and Subject Matter Expert, driving the design and execution of complex projects within the Life Sciences sector.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and system layout
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, plumbing, and architectural partners
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration support
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sustainability goals
- Manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets effectively
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of HVAC design experience within an MEP consulting environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain in MD)
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy modeling principles
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP)
- Experience with healthcare, higher education, or large commercial projects preferred
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
