Position Title: Tax Manager

Location: Chicago, IL (Downtown)

About the Role

Our client, a boutique CPA firm in downtown Chicago specializing in the financial services industry, is seeking a Tax Manager to help lead their tax practice. The firm prepares tax returns for hedge funds, commodity pools, fund managers, proprietary trading firms, broker-dealers, family offices, and high net worth individuals, working across a wide range of entity structures including partnerships, S corporations, LLCs, trusts, and private foundations. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a specialized client base, manage engagements directly, and grow toward a genuine partnership track within a firm built around technical depth in the financial services space.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review federal and state tax engagements for hedge funds, fund managers, broker-dealers, proprietary trading firms, and other financial services entities
• Oversee tax work across a range of entity structures, including partnerships, S corporations, LLCs, trusts, private foundations, and individuals
• Lead tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals and family offices, including gift and estate matters
• Manage U.S. tax compliance related to foreign investment and bank reporting requirements
• Build and manage direct client relationships within a small, partner-accessible firm structure
• Take on increasing scope and responsibility with a clear, performance-driven track toward partner

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant tax experience
• Financial services industry background required; broker-dealer or hedge fund client experience preferred
• CPA preferred but not required, industry progression and performance carry significant weight
• Strong technical command of partnership, S corporation, and pass-through entity taxation
• Comfortable operating in a smaller, non-corporate firm environment with direct partner interaction
