We are seeking a strategic and highly connected Business Development Manager to drive growth within our MEP engineering practice, with a focus on healthcare, mission critical (data centers), life sciences, and federal/government projects. This role is ideal for a professional who understands the complexity, compliance requirements, and relationship-driven nature of these sectors and can translate that knowledge into sustained project wins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute targeted business development strategies within healthcare, mission critical, life sciences, and federal markets
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with hospital systems, data center developers/operators, pharmaceutical/lab clients, and government agencies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including owners, architects, program managers, and general contractors
- Position the firm as a trusted partner for complex, high-performance MEP design solutions
- Lead and support proposal development, including RFQs/RFPs, qualifications packages, and interview presentations
- Collaborate closely with technical teams to align pursuits with firm expertise in highly regulated and specialized environments
- Track and manage pipeline activity, client engagement, and pursuit strategy through CRM systems
- Stay current on industry trends, funding pipelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., healthcare codes, GMP environments, federal contracting standards)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of business development experience within the AEC industry, with a strong focus on one or more target sectors
- Demonstrated success winning and supporting complex projects in healthcare, data centers, life sciences, or federal/government markets
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and their application in highly technical and regulated environments
- Familiarity with federal procurement processes (e.g., SAM registration, GSA schedules, IDIQ contracts) is a plus
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to develop long-term strategies while managing active pursuits
Preferred Experience:
- Established network with healthcare systems, mission critical developers/operators, life sciences clients, or federal agencies
- Experience collaborating with architects, EPC firms, and construction managers on large-scale, complex projects
- Knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency, and resiliency considerations in critical environments
