Surveyor

A well-established construction organization is seeking a Surveyor to support its field operations team. The Surveyor will collect, analyze, and document all relevant project data to prepare for construction, ensuring accurate site layout and as-built information. This role requires proficiency with robotic total stations, GPS technology, survey software, and data collection tools. The position offers hands-on involvement in both office and field survey operations within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


The Surveyor reports to the Field Operations Manager and does not supervise other positions.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Set-Up (Office Duties):

  • Determine time estimates for projects
  • Prepare construction site locations for site layout using CAD drawings and related software
  • Perform calculations for project requirements
  • Prepare as-built drawings upon project completion
  • Research land titles, legal, and survey records to obtain property boundary information
  • Maintain and repair survey equipment records


Field Set-Up:

  • Establish horizontal and vertical site control
  • Determine layout of site improvements, including utilities, grading, curbs, pavements, and building locations
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare or guide survey proposals
  • Determine volumes of stockpile material
  • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain accuracy
  • Collect as-built field data


GPS Operations:

  • Set control points for GPS calibration
  • Prepare GPS models of the site
  • Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations
  • Record survey results, including shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or features
  • Operate rover software for field construction staking


Miscellaneous:

  • Assist with additional projects, duties, and tasks as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of geographical information systems, probability and statistics, and boundary laws
  • Minimum of 5 years of land surveying experience
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with survey instruments, GPS, and related software
