Tax Director

Our client, a forward-thinking and growth-oriented advisory firm, is seeking a Tax Director to lead and expand its tax practice. The organization serves closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and entrepreneurial clients with sophisticated tax planning and strategic advisory services. Known for its collaborative leadership structure and modern approach to client service, this opportunity offers executive-level responsibility, team oversight, and the ability to shape the direction of a growing tax platform.

The Tax Director will serve as a strategic advisor to key clients while overseeing complex engagements, mentoring team members, and driving practice development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and review complex federal and state tax engagements for corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals
• Develop and implement advanced tax planning strategies, including entity structuring and transaction advisory
• Provide technical leadership on evolving tax regulations and compliance matters
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for top-tier tax clients
• Oversee and mentor managers, seniors, and staff within the tax department
• Review and ensure quality control across all tax deliverables
• Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to expand client services
• Assist with IRS and state audit strategy and resolution

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of public accounting experience with a strong focus in tax
• Significant experience managing complex tax planning and compliance engagements
• Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing teams and client relationships
• CPA license required
• Strong technical expertise in federal and multi-state tax regulations
• Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s in Taxation preferred
